Designed for postal or courier transport, mailing bags are light, normally waterproof and have an adhesive strip as part of the design. The envelopes are available in a range of types and sizes as heavy duty mailers, mailorder and courier bags, with tamper-proof seals, with bubble-padding or as glossy or metallic presentation mailers for advertising and branding purposes.

A buyers guide to the most popular types of Mailing Bags

Lightweight mailers

Simple but effective protection when posting an item - These mailing bags normally have a pre-printed address window and are a cheap way to send information to your customers and are much lighter than paper envelopes.

Bubble mailers

These are very lightweight protective envelopes are waterproof and are comparable in price to the featherlight paper-bubble mailers. They pad the item they are transporting in small bubbles of air for good protection.

Paper-feel plastic envelopes

These are plastic envelopes which have the touch and feel of paper envelopes (but are much stronger and waterproof).

Jiffybag or featherpost padded mailers

Jiffybags have long set the standard for paper padded envelopes, and offer good protection in the post and have a self sealing strip to seal them closed. The bags can be bubble lined or pulp filled which are slightly heavier.

Mail-order goods bags

Strong bags ideal for sending 'mail order' items. Ideal for garments and quite sizeable products. The bags are often opaque and strong without being too thick (which would make them more expensive). Particularly good for ebay and paypal customers selling their products on-line..

Heavy duty postal mailers

Tamper-proof mailing bags
